2/27: Nichols' Season Ends At Regions
Senior Tim Nichols had his season ended on Saturday at the Region 6 Tournament. Nichols was pinned in his quarterfinal bout to eventual champion Jordan Beverly of Point Boro and then was eliminated in the wrestleback round by 4th place finisher Luis Filipe of Long Branch.
Nichols ends the season with a team high 22 wins.
2/23: Nichols Advances To Region Quarters
Senior Tim Nichols topped CBA's Patrick Cunningham, 14-7, on Tuesday night to advance into Friday night's quarterfinal round of the 2010 Region 6 Tournament.
Teammates Anthony D'Anton and Steve Glawson, both juniors, had their seasons ended at Tuesday's opening round with D'Anton falling to Brian Hamann of Jackson Memorial, and Glawson getting edged by Neptunes CJ Pierce. D'Anton ends his season with a record of 20-6, while Glawson finishes the year at 18-8.

2010 Season Preview
Head Coach: Neil Saunders
A few years back the Griffins had problems fielding full lineups and as a result lost many matches at the scales. Coach Neil Saunders has done a great job building the program up and the numbers reflect the job he's doing.
The Griffins once again have a full lineup, complimented with some nice depth, and will be looking to get to the next level in 2010.
Junior Anthony D'Anton and senior TIm Nichols are the top wins leaders returning in a lower half of the lineup that will be breaking in several newcomers. Both wrestlers broke the 20-win plateau in 2009 and could hit the 30+mark in 2010.
The upper half of the lineup has a solid group in place with four wrestlers returning who had 17 wins or more a year ago in juniors Steve Glawson and Angelo DiSalvo and seniors Josh Kopp and Gerard Sheehan. All four wrestlers hit double digits in pins and can rack up the team points in a hurry.

Wrestler To Watch: (Jr) Steve Glawson
Glawson, 26-10 in 2009, returns after a breakout sophomore campaign in which he led the team in falls, wins, and was their lone District medal winner. He's coming off an off-season injury, but if healthy, should hit the 30+ win mark and be in the mix for the Griffins first District gold since 1996.
DESPO's Outlook
Injuries have kept Donovan from hitting the .500 mark over the last couple of seasons. Still, they have picked up some nice wins and wrestled some bigger programs down to the wire over in 2008 and 2009, which means if they can keep everyone on the mat they should break the .500 mark and rack up some wins. There's a handful of wrestlers here capable of putting up some nice win totals and making some noise at Districts. The key, again, is for the Griffins to stay healthy. If they do, they should put together a very solid year.
